During pregnancy, your body works harder — increased blood volume, fluid shifts, and pressure on leg veins can lead to swelling, leg fatigue, and varicose veins. Medical-grade maternity compression garments are designed to support healthy circulation, reduce leg discomfort, and promote overall leg wellness during pregnancy and postpartum.

At ForYourLegs, our “Compression for Pregnancy & Maternity” collection features trusted maternity compression socks, compression legwear, pantyhose, tights, and leggings — all tailored to the needs of expectant and new moms. Shop confidently with support you can feel.

Why Wear Compression During Pregnancy?

Reduce swelling and edema: Pregnancy increases blood and fluid volume, which can cause swelling in the feet, ankles, and legs. Graduated compression helps counteract that fluid buildup.

Promote better blood flow, reduce varicose veins & clot risk: The growing uterus places extra pressure on pelvic and leg veins, which can slow return circulation. Compression garments apply graduated pressure to assist venous return and reduce venous insufficiency symptoms — a common recommendation for pregnant women.

Alleviate leg heaviness, pain & fatigue: Many expectant mothers report leg aches, heaviness, or cramping. Compression can ease those sensations and support daytime comfort.

Support during travel, standing, or long days: Compression socks or hosiery can help during prolonged sitting (e.g. flights, car trips) or standing, which are common discomfort triggers in pregnancy.

Postpartum & recovery benefits: After birth, compression wear is still useful, especially in the first 6 weeks postpartum, to help reduce residual swelling, support leg health, and prevent complications.

Our Maternity Compression Product Lines

We carry a wide range of compression legwear designed specifically for pregnancy and postpartum:

Maternity Compression Socks: Gentle, graduated compression socks (e.g. 15-20 mmHg or 20-30 mmHg) that target the ankle and taper upward to reduce leg swelling and discomfort.

Maternity Compression Tights, Leggings & Pantyhose: Full-leg compression with built-in belly support panels to accommodate your growing bump and support your legs. These styles blend performance and comfort.

Each product is crafted with breathable, stretch fabric blends that maintain compression while allowing moisture-wicking and comfort.

How to Choose & Use Maternity Compression Wear

  1. Choose the right compression strength: Most pregnant women benefit from light to moderate graduated compression (15-20 mmHg or 20-30 mmHg). If you have significant swelling, varicose veins, or a history of vascular issues, speak to a healthcare provider about higher levels.
  2. Measure correctly & size appropriately: Measure early in the day (when swelling is minimal) and use the brand’s size chart. A proper fit is key to efficacy and comfort. Avoid socks or bands that cut into skin or roll down.
  3. Put them on first thing in the morning: Before swelling has started, slip into your compression wear. This helps prevent fluid buildup throughout the day.
  4. Wear during active hours: Use them while standing, walking, or traveling. Many providers advise removing them during sleep (unless specifically prescribed otherwise), as risks of binding or constriction may increase at night.
  5. Care & maintenance: Hand wash or machine wash cold, lay flat to dry. Avoid bleach, fabric softener, or heat that may degrade elastic support.
