Great Do-It-Yourself Ability

"One of the worst things about lymphedema is that the minute you get it under control, you have to keep going with maintaining or your start swelling. I've been through that process (swelling back up) too many times and have let it get completely out of control...right up until I started using the Sigvaris wraps. First it was just the calf; that was easy. Then I went to therapy and got professional wrapping done. We were getting close to "normal" on one leg; I ordered the knee and thigh wrap to test. They barely fit at first and the therapist had to help me. Then, one day when my therapist wasn't available, I decided to try it myself. I got it up and on and secured. I have a huge lobe on the back of my leg, so it was a chore and required changing and re-situating. Finally I wrapped my own leg from the calf up with the bandage and put the Sigvaris wraps over the bandages to force more compression. Now I'm doing both of my legs on the days i don't have therapy and my therapist is very happy with the compression, the reduction in my leg sizes and the wraps' ability to maintain. We are now nearing that point when I'll be on my own again. But this time there's a difference - I know how to maintain by myself with full leg wraps. Sigvaris is the BEST in my book!"
